Car fire stops traffic on York outer ring road

A car has burst into flames on the York outer ring road this evening (Thursday).

Emergency services are now on the scene.

It’s on the A64 between Murton and the Hopgrove roundabout and a witness told YorkMix traffic was stopped both ways.

The car appears to be alongside the central reservation. It’s not clear if it has been in collision with another vehicle.

The fire has sent a thick plume of black smoke into the air.

We have no word on whether anyone has been hurt in the incident as yet.
